Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed permanent Manchester United manager in March but the real work at Old Trafford is only just getting started.

Despite their improved form under the Norwegian, the Red Devils’ squad is in desperate need of a summer overhaul, with a number of players nearing the end of their contracts, or their prime playing days.

Not only that, Solskjaer must now identify which players within the current crop of United’s young talent have the requisite quality to step up to the first team to follow in the footsteps of Marcus Rashford and a long line of academy graduates to have graced the club down the years.

Do United spend big on a raft of world-renowned superstars? Do they trust in the youth system that has served them so well over the years?

And does Solskjaer stick with the functional tactics that have led to an upturn in results so far or, just like Gareth Southgate with England, switch to something much more expansive once this initial teething period is over?

In his latest video, Statman Dave tackles the biggest questions surrounding Solskjaer’s permanent place at the wheel of Manchester United.
