After winning four of their five group games with one of the best point differentials in the tournament, Slovenia won a close-fought quarter-final against Belgium 88-72 on Saturday. Luka Doncic was the standout player against the Belgians, scoring a game-high 35 points, while the 23-year-old has averaged 28 points per game in the tournament so far — only Greece’s Giannis Antetokounmpo is ahead of him on 29.5.

Poland, meanwhile, qualified in third place in Group D with three wins and two defeats, going on to beat Ukraine 94-86 in the quarter-finals. Anthony Darrell Slaughter of Herbalife Gran Canaria was Poland’s most effective player in that match with 24 points, closely followed by Mateusz Ponitka on 22. That duo have been Poland’s stars throughout the tournament, averaging 14 and 13.2 points per game, respectively.

This will be the fifth meeting between these two nations. Slovenia have enjoyed complete H2H dominance so far, winning the previous four matches. The closest Poland have come to a victory was a 98-97 loss in a friendly back in August 2015.
