Firmino first name on the team sheet
It’s been a season of rejuvenation for Firmino, with the Brazilian striker silencing critics who assumed his time on the pitch at Anfield would be greatly diminished by the arrival of Darwin Nunez. Firmino has started nine of Liverpool’s 12 games in the league this season and has put in numerous good performances, often being the shining light for a side that have struggled to live up to the heights of last season.
There has been speculation this week that Liverpool are on the verge of offering Firmino a new contract, an indication of how highly he is thought of at the club. Head coach, Jurgen Klopp, has already spoken of his admiration for the Brazilian this season, waxing lyrical about his performances,
“Mo [Salah] gets a lot of attention and rightly so but Firmino was outstanding. For people with football knowledge, people will write books about how he interprets the false 9,” Klopp said in his press conference following the match against Manchester United earlier this season. “We don’t say he invented it but it looks like that at times. It was insane.”

The 31 year-old has played 787 minutes in the Premier League this season, scoring six goals and having 18 shots on target. That’s the best return from any Liverpool player this season.
