Sevilla vs West Ham predicted XIs: Team news as David Moyes sweats on Jarrod Bowen injury status

West Ham and Sevilla meet for the first time when they take part in the first leg of their Europa League last 16 match-up on Thursday evening (5.45pm kick-off, UK time).
The Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan will host this year’s final, but for now Sevilla’s iconic venue is prepped and ready for the visit of West Ham, who are enjoying their furthest European run since the 1980/81 Cup Winners’ Cup, when they were eliminated by Dinamo Tbilisi in the quarter-finals.
In Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla they have not been dealt a favourable draw. The Champions League dropouts are flying high in La Liga, currently second behind Real Madrid, and have enjoyed more success in this competition than any other club, claiming the Europa League a record six times.

Sevilla team news vs West Ham: Martial a major doubt
Anthony Martial is currently nursing a muscle injury which is expected to keep him out later this week, meaning the Man Utd loanee will join Suso on the treatment tables. Diego Carlos missed Friday’s 0-0 against Alaves but the Brazilian is thought to be fit for the visit of West Ham, unlike Thomas Delaney, who is a confirmed absentee through suspension.

West Ham team news vs Sevilla: Bowen doubtful, Rice touch and go
Jarrod Bowen withdrew on Saturday in the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool after sustaining an impact injury, and he is now considered a significant doubt. The club confirmed shortly after the contest at Anfield that Bowen did not incur any serious damage, but the short-term effects could render him unavailable for Thursday.
“West Ham United can confirm a scan has shown that Jarrod Bowen suffered no significant damage following the injury he picked up at Liverpool on Saturday evening,” the statement read.
“The 25-year-old suffered an impact injury to his right heel during a challenge early in the second half at Anfield and, despite attempting to carry on, had to be substituted five minutes later.”
West Ham’s head of medical, Richard Collinge, added: “Jarrod underwent an MRI scan in London on Sunday morning and thankfully no significant injury has occurred. He will continue to be monitored by the medical team and will undergo further examination in the coming days.”
Declan Rice missed the trip to Merseyside at the weekend through illness and it is believed the England international is in a race to recover in time for the trip to Spain, though Moyes will certainly be hopeful his main midfielder returns in time for Thursday’s season-defining showdown.
