Scottish Premiership winner Odds 21/22: Celtic in the box seat after back-to-back Old Firm wins

It has been 37 years since a club other than Celtic or Rangers won the Scottish top flight, and that isn’t about to change this season with the Old Firm rivals in a league of their own atop the table. But who will secure the title this term?

Who is in the box seat to win the Scottish Premiership?
As things currently stand there are six points between Celtic in first and fierce Glasgow rivals Rangers in second after 32 Scottish Premiership matches played. To say that Sunday’s Old Firm was something of a six-pointer, therefore, would have be massively underselling the Ibrox clash.
Celtic, who saw their stranglehold thwarted last season by Rangers, have got themselves in a favourable position heading into the business end of the season, with Ange Postecoglou overcoming a shaky start to enjoy a positive maiden campaign in Parkhead. That opening-day defeat to Hearts now seems an age away.
For Rangers it has been a season of uncertainty following Steven Gerrard’s autumnal departure to Aston Villa, but former Ibrox icon Giovanni van Bronckhorst has worked wonders to steady the ship and keep the reigning champions fiercely competitive as they seek to defend their crown.
However, in this weekend’s must-not-lose derby, one described by Rangers legend Ally McCoist as “one of the biggest Old Firm games” in recent memory, it was Celtic who triumphed, coming from behind after Aaron Ramsey broke the deadlock, to win 2-1, subsequently swinging the title race firmly in their favour.

Scottish Premiership outright odds: Other markets
You can bet on many more outright markets other than just the Scottish Premiership winner. As well as backing a team to lift the famous trophy, Paddy Power offer markets such as Celtic to win SPL & Scottish FA Cup (6/4) and To Finish Outside the Top 6, with St Mirren at 1/20 and Ross County at 1/4. 888Sport are also offering player specific markets such as the Top Scorer, with Alfredo Morelos currently at 9/4.
Scottish Premiership to finish bottom odds
Paddy Power are also offering a market on the club to finish bottom of the table in the 2021/22 Scottish Premiership season. The club that finishes in 12th will automatically drop down to the Scottish Championship, while the club in 11th will qualify for what is commonly known as the Premiership play-off final, a winner-takes-all fixture to secure top-flight status against a promotion hopeful.
As things stand Dundee are dead last on 24 points, while St Johnstone are 11th on 30 points. There is then a considerable gap to 10th-placed Aberdeen on 36 points, so it may be a case that both Dundee and St Johnstone are now simply vying to just make 11th and test their luck in the Premiership play-off final against a club in the second tier.
