Scotland vs Armenia betting tips from Squawka Bet

Steve Clarke’s men had a late start to Group B1 owing to their participation in World Cup qualifying play-offs, losing to Ukraine in the semi-finals of their path to miss out on the major tournament again. They now face an Armenia side that have taken an early lead in Group B1 thanks to a 1-0 win over Republic of Ireland on Saturday and will be hoping to keep their spot at the top.

Scotland team news

On top of their defeat to Ukraine last week, Scotland suffered with the injury to striker Lyndon Dykes, who had to come off with a quad problem. The QPR striker has now withdrawn from the squad having been ruled out of the remaining three matches including Wednesday’s game against Armenia.

However, Scotland will be boosted by the return of Nathan Patterson, who did not recover from ankle surgery in time to face Ukraine. Lewis Ferguson is also expected to be available after struggling with a “very minor” injury, though is unlikely to start.

Armenia team news

Armenia frustrated Ireland with a back five last time out, diverting from their usual 4-4-2 formation, and given its success they could do the same against Scotland. In the 3-5-2, Tigran Barseghyan partnered Vahan Bichakhchyan up front and that duo could continue, with Armenia slowly building up their attack following Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s retirement in March.

Scoreline prediction: Scotland 2-0 Armenia
