Santos vs Palmeiras build-up, pre-match team news & previous line-ups:
The hosts managed to beat Sport Recife 4-2 on home soil last time out in the league, but they followed that up with a 1-0 defeat to LDU Quito in the Copa Libertadores in midweek. However, that did not stop them from qualification, thanks to a 2-1 win in Quito in the first leg, and a crucial away goal.
Domestically, Santos have enjoyed a decent Serie A campaign overall, currently sitting sixth in the table, tied on 37 points with three other teams. They are also unbeaten in their past three home league games and have scored at least two goals in each of the matches.
But their opponents are also in good form. Palmeiras have lost just once in their past 12 games across all competitions, winning the remaining 11. They go into this tie off the back of a three-game winning run, which includes a 5-0 home victory against Delfin in the Copa Libertadores in midweek, cruising through 8-1 on aggregate.
Palmeiras have looked incredibly strong in the final third, scoring 11 goals in their pat three matches across all competitions, conceding just once. Away from home, Palmeiras have lost just once in their past six games, though it was their most recent league trip, falling 1-0 at Goias.
Will Santos make it four victories in a row at the Estadio Vila Belmiro? Or will Palmeiras secure their ninth victory in the eleven competitive matches?
