Santos take a 2-1 lead into their round-of-16 second leg clash against LDU Quito in the Copa Libertadores on Tuesday at 10:15 pm (UK time).
The Sao Paulo-based club ran out comfortable winners of Group G, winning five of their six games while avoiding defeat, which has paired them against Ecuadorian outfit LDU Quito (who finished runners-up in Group D) in the knockout rounds.
The first leg, contested at the colloquially known La Casa Blanca in the Ecuadorian capital, saw Cuca’s side return to Brazil with a slender 2-1 lead, with a second-half Marinho penalty separating the sides after Jhojan Julio cancelled out Yeferson Soteldo’s early strike.
Santos are three-time winners of South America’s flagship competition, but have not reached the final since their 2011 triumph, while LDU Quito were shock victors in 2008 and will be determined to produce another fairytale story this season.

Player to watch: Kaio Jorge (Santos)
It is no great secret that Brazil is one of the best talent-producing nations in football, and Santos has often been the gold standard when it comes to emerging youngsters. The likes of Neymar and Rodrygo Goes have plied their trade at the Vila Belmiro before leaping from Sao Paulo to Spain’s super clubs.
The latest blossoming tyro to emerge from that Santastico lineage is Kaio Jorge, an 18-year-old forward with 36 appearances to his name already and the club’s sixth-youngest debutant. He has featured extensively in the Libertadores this season, with two goals in six games and played the full 90 minutes in the reverse fixture.
Scoreline prediction: Santos 2-0 LDU Quito
