Sampdoria vs Inter build-up & previous line-ups:
Heading into this latest round of fixtures it’s been a winless start for Sampdoria who have claimed just one point from six available. That draw came last time out against Sassuolo which followed an opening weekend 0-1 loss to AC Milan at home. They’ve also yet to score. In their Serie A history Il Doria have always registered at least one goal across their first three games of a season. However, this weekend they have the opportunity to register back-to-back home wins against Inter for only the second time in Serie A history, the last time I Blucerchiati managed this feat came between 1989 and 1991.
It’s been nothing but a solid start for defending Serie A champions Inter Milan who come into matchday three boasting one of the league’s five 100% records. Simone Inzaghi’s men brushed Genoa aside on matchday one, running out 4-0 winners, before claiming a 1-3 success against Verona on the road. Ahead of this latest trip, Inter have won seven of their previous eight league matches against Sampdora, however as touched upon the most recent meeting between the sides at Ferraris stadium in January 2021 saw the hosts pick up a 2-1 win.

Player to watch: Edin Dzeko (Inter)
Losing a striker of Romelu Lukaku’s ilk will always be felt but Inter hope Edin Dzeko will seamlessly fill those large boots. The 28-year-old Belgian marksman, who returned to former club Chelsea, bagged 64 goals across 95 appearances in all competitions. In the league he managed 47 goals in 72 matches and last season only Cristiano Ronaldo (29) outscored him with Lukaku finishing 17 strikes ahead of Dzeko who failed to reach double figures for only the third time in six Roma seasons. Dzeko opened his Inter account on debut against Genoa and in 12 previous league meetings with Sampdoria he’s bagged six goals, including three in his last three games, which makes them his favourite Serie A opponents.
