Both sides have seen plenty of outgoings this summer and it could be a period of transition for both sides ahead of the new season. Salzburg have lost two key players in Brenden Aaronson and Karim Adeyemi whilst Feyenoord have seen Luis Sinisterra and Tyrell Malacia both depart for the Premier League.
Which players could be on show?
RB Salzburg definitely have a business model and it’s hard to argue that it doesn’t work with the club bringing in over £160m in transfer fees over the past three seasons whilst winning the title for the ninth time in a row last season. This summer they’ve lost both Karim Adeyemi (Borussia Dortmund) and Brenden Aaronson (Leeds United) for almost £60m, with the likes of Karim Konate and Fernando are seen as natural successors in the RB Salzburg pipeline.
Feyenoord have also lost two members of their squad with Luis Sinisterra joining Aaronson at Leeds whilst Tyrell Malacia has been recruited by Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. As yet, Feyenoord haven’t replaced them in the transfer market and this was perhaps most telling in their first pre-season game this summer when they were soundly beaten 7-0 by Copenhagen.
There could be a host of youngsters with huge potential on show in this game with Salzburg likely to hand minutes to Konate as well as Luka Sucic, Bryan Okoh and Maurits Kjaergaard. Feyenoord might be reliant on youth this season, unless they dip into the market, and this could be a valuable game in the development of Antoni Milambo, Lennard Hartjes and Denzel Hall amongst others.
This is the second pre-season game for both of these sides, with Salzburg having clashes against Ajax and Liverpool to look forward to and Feyenoord anticipating their match with French side, Lyon.
Scoreline prediction: Salzburg 2-0 Feyenoord
