Riyad Mahrez has revealed what his first purchase will be after signing new Man City contract

Riyad Mahrez has jokingly pledged to purchase a new phone after he was pictured with a smashed one ahead of Manchester City’s flight to the United States for their pre-season tour across the Atlantic.
The Algerian recently committed to a two-year extension of his current contract with the English champions, which will now see his present deal expire in 2025 and ends immediate speculation over his future — having previously entered his final 12 months before penning fresh terms.

Ahead of the build-up to his fifth season at the Etihad, Mahrez recently jetted off to the States with his team-mates as Pep Guardiola’s men prepare to take on Club America in Texas and Bayern Munich in Wisconsin — and eagle-eyed fans noticed something amiss with his pre-flight social media post.
In what appeared to be a fairly innocuous image of Mahrez getting on the flight, he was bombarded with replies relating to his severely damaged iPhone… a point the 31-year-old was quick to identify himself.

Making light of the situation, Mahrez then responded to one social media user who commented that he has more than enough money to get a new phone, to which the City star replied: “Was waiting for the new contract”.

Mahrez, who has won three Premier League titles with Man City and made 188 appearances across all competitions, says he remains “hungry” to achieve more success at the Etihad despite already having four trophy-laden years under his belt.
“I’ve enjoyed every single minute of my time here,” said Mahrez after signing his new contract.
“It’s a pleasure to be part of such an incredible club.
“To have helped us achieve the success we have enjoyed in the past four seasons has been unforgettable and made us all hungry to look to achieve even more.
“Now I just want to try and play my part in helping us be successful next season and beyond.”
