Rafael Nadal is without a doubt one of the best tennis players of all time, and has won more Grand Slams than any other man, scooping 22 across his career so far (two more than Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic). However, just two of those 22 glories have come at Wimbledon, and he hasn’t tasted glory in this particular Grand Slam since 2010.

However, Nadal will be hoping he can make it three at Wimbledon this summer as he looks to keep on his path for a calendar Grand Slam. The Spaniard has already dominated at the major tournaments so far this year, winning the Australian and French Opens, with Wimbledon and the FA Open to come. Only two men have won the calendar Grand Slam in singles competition before, and it hasn’t been done since 1969 when Rod Laver achieved the feat for the second time.

In the First Round at Wimbledon 2022, the second seed overcame a potentially tricky challenge against Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, winning 6-4, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 to set up this match against Lithuanian Berankis.

It’s not the first time Nadal and Berankis have faced off this year, with the Spaniard getting the better of his opponent at the 2022 Melbourne Summer Set 1 back in January, with Nadal going on to winning the tournament. At Wimbledon, Berankis won his First Round match against American Sam Querrey in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, 6-3.

Prediction: Rafael Nadal to win in three sets
