Osasuna vs Real Sociedad build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:
For a while Madridistas everywhere were Osasuna fans but then came the disappointment when Jagoba Arrasate’s men inevitably snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Atletico’s win not only leaves Real in the backseat regarding this season’s title race but keeps Los Rojillos mid-table with just one win across their previous five La Liga outings. It’s a different story at home though as Osasuna will be seeking a fourth straight win at Estadio El Sadar and they haven’t tasted defeat since Barcelona left with a 0-2 win in early March.
It seemed 2020/21 was destined to be a strong campaign for Real Sociedad who began this season like a house on fire. However that intensity would subside and their championship aspirations went up in smoke. Playing in next year’s Champions League group phase is also no longer a dream with fifth place the best they can do heading into matchday 28. But they need to leave with all three points as Real Betis and Villarreal are breathing down their necks. La Real though have won just one of their previous six away games and go into this weekend’s fixture looking to end a two-game losing streak.
- Osasuna (vs Atlético Madrid): Herrera; Ramalho, U. García, D. García, Cruz, R. García; Barja, Brasanac, Moncayola, Jony; Budimir.
- Real Sociedad (vs Real Valladolid): Remiro; Gorosabel, Elustondo, Le Normand, Monreal; Oyarzabal, Illarramendi*, Guevara, Januzaj; Silva, Isak.
Osasuna will be without Ruben Martinez who is on the sideline due to injury. There’s also doubts over the availability of Jonathan Calleri, Manu Sanchez and Aridane Hernandez. Real Sociedad meanwhile go into this weekend’s game missing Luca Sangalli whilst they are hopeful Aihen Munoz, Asier Illarramendi and Mikel Merino can feature.

Player to watch: Ante Budimir (Osasuna)
It’s been a somewhat productive season for on-loan Mallorca striker Ante Budimir who comes into the final matchday having bagged 11 goals across 29 league appearances. If we break down those efforts then seven (64% of his total output) have come via his noggin. This represents the most by any player in La Liga during this campaign and not since Walter Pandiani in 2008/09 (also seven) has an Osasuna player been effective via this scoring method. Budimir is also enjoying a good run of form having netted in each of Los Rojillos’ past three matches.
