There is no rest for the wicked in the 2022/23 EuroLeague and after the ninth round of fixtures took place over Tuesday and Wednesday, round 10 begins abruptly on Thursday. The EuroLeague’s most successful side Real Madrid have made a decent start to their quest to end a four-season run without glory, since beating Fenerbahce in the 2017/18 campaign to claim their 10th crown. After nine games played, Real Madrid have a record of 6-3 and are third in the early regular season table, with only Fenerbahce having recorded more wins.

But they haven’t had it all their way. After five rounds Real Madrid were 2-3 with victories over struggling Panathinaikos and Crvena zvezda surrounded by defeats to Barcelona, Olympiacos and Virtus Bologna. But since that defeat to the Italian side, Real Madrid have built a four-game winning streak with victories over Olimipia Milano, defending champions Anadolu Efes, ALBA Berlin and Valencia. The latter came despite Real Madrid slipping slightly in the final quarter, with Dzanan Musa scoring 28 points across the game.

It hasn’t been a bad start for Partizan either, though they do sit outside the playoff spots as things stand. Naturally, Partizan will have different goals to Real Madrid, being one of the wildcard entries, and will surely see a spot in the next round – or a high finish at the very least – as a successful campaign. The Serbian side didn’t have the best start to life in the EuroLeague though, losing each of their opening three games.

Partizan finally got their first win on the board in round four, beating Virtus Bologna and they built a three-game winning streak off that, also managing victories over Zalgiris and Panathinaikos. Things haven’t been as good since that win though, with Partizan losing two of their past three games, with a win over Maccabi Tel Aviv sandwiched by defeats against Olympiacos and Barcelona
