Despite this they are still lagging behind their opponents tonight, Barcelona, in the race to win the Spanish first division. Barça might not be excelling in Europe, having been dumped out of both the Champions League and Europa League this season, but they’ve been the team in beat domestically. They currently hold a seven point lead over Real Madrid and, having conceded just eight goals in 23 games this season, look set to reclaim the La Liga trophy for the first time since 2019.
