Real Madrid are the most-successful side in EuroLeague history but their quest for an 11th crown hasn’t had the best of starts. Of course, we are only seven games into the regular season with 27 still to come, but Real Madrid will have hoped for a better start to end their four-year wait for EuroLeague glory. The Spanish side did start their season with a win over Panathinaikos but followed that up with two consecutive defeats to Barcelona and then Olympiacos.

Round four and five saw Real Madrid beat Crvena zvezda before losing to Virtus Bologna to make it 2-3 in their opening five games, but they have since returned to winning ways. First they recovered from a half-time deficit to beat Olimpia Milano and then last time out they beat defending champions Anadolu Efes 94-85.

ALBA Berlin will have been thrilled with their start to the new season but now are looking to get it back on track having dropped out of the playoff places. The German side won their opening three matches, beating Partizan, Olimpia Milano and Panathinaikos – the former making them the first team to hit 100 in a single game.

But then the downward spiral started with a defeat to Anadolu Efes in round four and continued in a loss against Valencia. Unlike Real Madrid, though, ALBA Berlin’s losing streak didn’t end at two. They were then beaten by Zalgiris and then last time out lost to German rivals Bayern Munich, unable to overcome their deficit despite winning the final quarter by eight points.
