RB Leipzig team news
Thirteen years after their founding, RB Leipzig secured their first ever major trophy last season, beating SC Freiburg on penalties to win the DFB-Pokal. It wasn’t their first time in the DFB-Pokal final, as RB Leipzig also finished as runners-up in 2018/19 and 2020/21. But RB Leipzig will be hoping it’s the catalyst for more trophies and they’ve added to their squad this season in Xaver Schlager, while also securing a new deal for Christopher Nkunku.
However, there have been a number of outgoings including Tyler Adams, Brian Brobbey and Nordi Mukiele, the latter recently securing a move to PSG. They will also be without Josko Gvardiol and Yussuf Poulsen for this game due to injury.
Bayern Munich team news
Bayern are no strangers to the DFL-Supercup but this season will bring a different vibe. For the first time since 2013, Bayern will be starting a season without Robert Lewandowski, having sold the goalscoring supremo to Barcelona. However, they have been busy in building a replacement team, signing Sadio Mane from Liverpool and the Senegalese forward is expected to spearhead their attack. Matthijs de Ligt, Ryan Gravenberch, Mathys Tel and Noussair Mazraoui have also been signed by Bayern this summer, but they will have to work a little harder for their places in Julian Nagelsmann’s team.
Leon Goretzka will miss this match through injury.
Scoreline prediction: RB Leipzig 1-3 Bayern Munich
