Racing Club vs Boca Juniors build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:
Racing finished with the fourth-best record in Zone A, having accumulated six wins from 13 played and bagging 14 goals while conceding 12 times. After escaping this year’s group stage, they’d meet Vélez Sarsfield in the quarter-finals. The game subsequently ended in a goalless draw before Racing triumphed 2-4 on penalties.
As for their opponents, who hoisted the inaugural Copa de la Liga title, Boca finished behind the aforementioned Vélez Sarsfield in Zone B. Like Racing they picked up six wins, but also registered 22 strikes while conceding 12 goals. Progression led to a Superclásico meeting with River, but they couldn’t be separated with the match ending 1-1. Russo’s men proved the strongest mentally, though, by running out 4-2 winners from the spot.
- Racing Club (vs Rentistas): Arias; Pillud, Sigali, Domínguez, Mena; Copetti, López, Miranda, Piatti; Chancalay, Cvitanich.
- Boca Juniors (vs The Strongest): Andrada; Capaldo, Izquierdoz, López, Zambrano, Fabra; Varela, Almendra, Cardona; Villa, Tévez.
Juan Antonio Pizzi has a fully available squad to choose from when Racing welcome Boca on Monday evening. The same cannot be said for Azul y Oro, who are missing Marcos Rojo, Agustín Almendra, Cristian Medina and Eduardo Salvio, all of whom are ruled out through injury.

Player to watch: Carlos Tévez (Boca Juniors)
This latest meeting between Racing and Boca will be Carlos Tévez’s ninth such game against La Academia. In those previous outings, he could only muster one goal, which came in a Superliga clash five years ago. The former Premier League star though has been relatively quiet in front of goal lately whilst representing his boyhood club. He comes into this contest having grabbed one goal across six recent appearances in all competitions. That lone strike did come against River in this competition. It’s also worth noting the 37-year-old last scored on the road at Vélez Sarsfield in early March, so he will be looking to break a six-game drought away from home.
