Now looking to have success on America’s east coast, Medvedev entered the Miami Open in the second round and beat Roberto Carballes Baena relatively easily, 6-1, 6-2. Last time out, Medvedev was handed a walkover victory over Alex Molcan who had to withdraw from the tournament due to a right hip injury.
Quentin Halys is currently ranked 79th in the world and is on his eighth tournament for 2023 already, suffering early exits in a few. Between bowing out at the first opportunity at Indian Wells, Halys took on the Arizona Tennis Classic and made it to the semi-finals before losing to Alexander Shevchenko.
While Medvedev earned a bye to the second round at the Miami Open, Halys took on Pedro Martinez in the first round and won 6-2, 7-6 (4) to join the seeded players. There was a big result in the second round as Halys came from a set down to beat 15th seed Alex de Minaur (5) 6-7, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (8). And last time out, Halys secured a 7-6 (2), 6-3 victory over Mackenzie McDonald.
