QPR vs Everton build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:
QPR have made a solid start to the Championship season, taking 12 points from their opening eight games to sit just outside the promotion playoff places. Everton will obviously provide a much sterner test of their credentials than they’re used to, but the Toffees come into this match off the back of a 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa and are missing some key players.
Even so, Everton haven’t won a major trophy since 1995 and Rafa Benitez will be well aware of just how much supporters are craving success. They won’t accept the Spaniard taking a pass on the EFL Cup.
- QPR (vs Bristol City): Dieng; Dickie, De Wijs, Barbet; Johansen; Odubajo, McCallum, Chair, Willock; Gray, Dykes.
- Everton (vs Aston Villa): Begovic; Godfrey, Mina, Keane, Digne; Townsend, Doucoure, Allan, Iwobi; Gray, Rondon.
Sam Field and Lee Wallace are QPR’s only injury concerns ahead of this EFL Cup clash. Everton, meanwhile, are without Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison, Seamus Coleman, Jordan Pickford and Fabian Delph.

Player to watch: Salamon Rondon (Everton)
With Calvert-Lewin set to be sidelined for a few weeks yet, it’s time for Salomon Rondon to step up and show Evertonians what he can do. The Venezuelan striker has 26 goals and 14 assists to his name under Benitez during spells with Newcastle United and Dalian Professional, so it’s no surprise to see him follow the Spaniard to Goodison Park. With no goals in his two outings for the Toffees so far, a strong performance against a Championship side in the cup might be just what Rondon needs to get going.
