St-Etienne vs PSG build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:

St-Etienne go into this game in good form, with two wins and two draws in their past four Ligue 1 matches, but that has not been the story of their season so far. Those two victories were in fact the first two times St-Etienne had won in the league this season, with six draws and six defeats seeing them currently occupy a spot in the relegation zone. Despite having the third-worst defence in Ligue 1, conceding 28 goals in 14 matches so far, St-Etienne are just a single point from safety (though it is still early in the season) and will be hoping they can pull of a shock this weekend.

Since losing 2-0 to Rennes at the start of October, PSG have gone unbeaten in five games in the league, winning four. Last weekend’s victory over Nantes was their third in a row, keeping them 11 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 and also saw Lionel Messi finally get off the mark in the league. However, PSG do go into this game off the back of a defeat, beaten by Manchester City in the Champions League in midweek, losing their opportunity to finish top of their group.

  • St-Etienne (vs Troyes): Green; Macon, Nade, Kolodziejczak, Trauco; Nordin, Youssouf, Boudebouz, Aouchiche; Krasso, Hamouma*.
  • PSG (vs Manchester City): Navas*; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Mendes; Gueye, Paredes, Herrera; Messi, Mbappe, Neymar.

St-Etienne are without Romain Hamouma who picked up a thigh injury in training and joins Gabriel Silva, Harold Moukoudi, Saidou Sow and Yvan Neyou on the sidelines. Keylor Navas is suspended for PSG after his red card last weekend, while Julian Draxler, Marco Verratti, Rafinha and Anderr Herrera are injured.

Leonardo: Pochettino has club’s backing

PSG’s loss to Man City in midweek was surrounded by speculation of Mauricio Pochettino’s future. Not because of the result (though he has come under fire for performances this season) but due to another job opening up in Manchester.

Although Ralf Rangnick looks set to take over on a temporary basis, Pochettino is among the favourites to be Manchester United’s next permanent manager. The Argentine has been on Man Utd’s radar for some time, and is believed to be their first choice.

But Leonardo has reminded everyone that Pochettino is under contract at PSG for another 18 months and has not expressed any desire to leave the club.

“I think it’s important to clarify the situation given the amount of false information circulating. Mauricio Pochettino is under contract with the club until 2023,” Leonardo told AFP.

“We do not want Pochettino to leave. He never asked to leave and no club contacted us in relation to him.”

Leonardo also squashed rumours of PSG talking to former Real Madrid manager about potentially replacing Pochettino.

He added: “We have a lot of respect for Zinedine Zidane, for what he did as a player and coach, but I can tell you very clearly that there is no contact and that no meeting with him has taken place.

“It’s ridiculous to imagine that a meeting with Zinedine Zidane could have taken place in a big hotel in Paris in front of the eyes of everyone.”
