Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to put their Champions League disappointment behind them when they resume Ligue 1 duties against Lens at the Parc des Princes on Saturday afternoon (16:00 UK time)

Mauricio Pochettino’s men could finish the weekend leading France’s top division if results go their way but they must first get past a stubborn Lens side who are chasing European football.

PSG vs Lens build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:

Three wins on the bounce, coupled with other results, has thrusted PSG into second and one point behind Ligue 1 leaders Lille though Mauricio Pochettino’s side hold that same advantage over third-place Monaco with Lyon a further four behind with four matches remaining this season. The defending champions though would be galloping towards a fourth successive championship and eighth in nine seasons if they hadn’t recently lost three home games on the bounce (with two of those losses coming against title rivals Monaco and Lille). The Parisian’s left it late against Saint-Etienne in their most recent Parc des Princes outing and will expect another challenging encounter when European football chasing Lens visits.

Franck Haise’s men are unbeaten in 13 league matches heading into the weekend albeit they won six of those aforementioned Ligue 1 outings. Sang et Or nevertheless find themselves in fifth and since a narrow 3-2 loss at Lyon, who sit a place and 11 points above them, Lens have put together a eight-game unbeaten run on the road subsequently winning half of those contests which included a 0-1 success at Marseille who currently sit a place and point below them.

  • PSG (vs Man City): Navas; Florenzi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Bakker; Gueye, Paredes; Di María, Verratti, Neymar; Mbappé.
  • Lens (vs Nîmes): Leca; Haidara, Badé, Gradit; Clauss, Cahuzac, Costa, Fofana, Sylla; Ganago, Jean.

Alexandre Letellier (thigh) and Juan Bernat (knee) are the only PSG players unavailable this weekend. The same cannot be said for Lens who must do without suspnded trio Loïc Badé, Massadio Haidara and Issiaga Sylla whilst Cheick Doucouré, Clément Michelin and Florian Sotoca are in the physio room.

Player to watch: Ángel Di María (PSG)

Following their disappointing Champions League semi-final first-leg result against Manchester City, which saw PSG snatch a defeat from the jaws of victory, few wearing the French club’s jersey came out of the game looking positive. One such individual was Argentine forward Ángel Di María who created yet another goal for his side in this season’s competition. It’s now four across nine matches and in France’s top division he’s currently on nine which puts the former Real Madrid and Man Utd man in a five-way battle to be crowned Ligue 1’s ‘assist king’. Five of those goals were created at home and Di María will fancy his chances of reaching double figures for the campaign when all is said and done this weekend.
