Despite capturing PSG’s record-equalling tenth Ligue 1 championship Mauricio Pochettino was relieved of his duties with Christophe Galtier now given the unenviable task of winning the club’s first European Cup title. He’s already overseen a successful pre-season campaign and tour of Japan having won four on the bounce subsequently registering 13 goals and conceding on three occasions. Galtier consequently seeks a first title in charge of the Parisian outfit and they come into this weekend’s game with summer recruits Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Nordi Mukiele, Hugo Ekitiké and Colin Dagba available for selection. However there’s no place for Julian Draxler and Timothée Pembélé in Galtier’s squad as both are currently nursing knee injuries while Kylian Mbappé is suspended.
As for Nantes they should be at near full-strength with Charles Traoré their only player sidelined. The left-back ruptured a cruciate ligament. Elsewhere head coach Antoine Kombouaré is able to call upon Moses Simon after the forward brushed off a thigh complaint. Momentum is something Nantes do not have following a 1-0 pre-season friendly loss to Rennes last time out. That setback ended a two-game winning run but across three previous meetings with PSG they have picked up two wins. A busy summer has seen Randal Kolo Muani, Jean-Kévin Augustin and Roli Pereira de Sa leave the club while ex-Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko and Mostafa Mohamed have joined from Watford and Galatasaray, respectively.
Scoreline prediction: PSG 3-0 Nantes
