Rodri makes Man City debut at West Ham: Premier League team news & line-ups for gameweek one

Manchester City began their quest to win a third consecutive Premier League title with a comprehensive 5-0 win at West Ham this Saturday afternoon.

Raheem Sterling bagged a second half hat-trick to catapult Pep Guardiola’s men to the top of an embryonic league table.

Both teams handed debuts to their record signings, but the Hammers were overwhelmed by a rapantant City, who can now sitback and enjoy the 3pm kick-offs before Tottenham Hotspur entertain Aston Villa this evening.

West Ham XI:

Jack Wilshere makes his first Premier League start since September 1, 2018 (West Ham 0-1 Wolves).

Man City XI:

Gabriel Jesus gets the nod to lead City’s forward line with Sergio Aguero, who hardly featured in pre-season, on the bench.

Saturday action to look forward to in Premier League gameweek one:

Crystal Palace v Everton (3pm)

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson said wantaway forward Wilfried Zaha, who Everton attempted to sign this summer, would feature against the Toffees but he starts on the bench.

Burnley v Southampton (3pm)

Southampton new boy Che Adams is part of their forward line at Turf Moor.

Watford v Brighton (3pm)

Graham Potter takes charge of his first competitive game as Brighton and Hove Albion manager but doesn’t hand a much-expected debut to Leandro Trossard.

Bournemouth v Sheffield United (3pm)

Eddie Howe has Charlie Daniels back fit but starts Diego Rico at left-back for the visit of newly-promoted Sheffield United.

Tottenham v Aston Villa (5.30pm)

Tanguy Ndombele makes his Premier League debut here and with the absence of Son Heung-min (suspended) Lucas Moura will be Spurs’ biggest attacking threat alongside Harry Kane.
