Arsenal vs Man City Premier League Preview

Published: 17:07, 13 December 2019

There’s no room for rest at this time of year and the Premier League is back for another stacked Gameweek as a frantic festive fixture list begins to take hold.

Manchester City faced a gruelling trip to Croatia on Wednesday night while Arsenal will have barely touched down from Belgium by the time they take on Pep Guardiola’s men on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners are battling to retain a place in the top half of the table and the reigning champions need a positive result to stay within touching distance of second-placed Leicester.

All of which means we are expecting an entertaining encounter as Freddie Ljungberg attempts to stake his claim for the manager’s job. However, do the hosts have any hope of keeping out Raheem Sterling and Co.? Or will we see Man City get back to their best in north London?

Meanwhile, runaway leaders Liverpool host rock bottom Watford. A huge 37 points separate the two sides and logic says Nigel Pearson’s men will not be the team to finally end the Reds’ superb home record.

Elsewhere, Chelsea host Bournemouth and Leicester take on Norwich as Jamie Vardy looks to continue his one-man assault on his own goalscoring record.

Spurs travel to Wolves with Jose Mourinho aiming to get one over on Nuno Espírito Santo, whom he managed during Porto’s victorious Champions League campaign in 2004. Harry Kane and Dele Alli were both rested in midweek and will be champing at the bit to make their mark at Molineux.

A rejuvenated Manchester United face a rejuvenated Everton, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking for a third top-flight win on the bounce which will go a long way to proving the argument that he is overseeing real change – and progress – at Old Trafford.

Big Duncan Ferguson will, as ever, be out to rain on the parade.
