Pick 1. Arsenal (4/9) to win v Norwich

  • Kick-off: Sunday, 15:00
  • Arsenal form: WWWLL
  • Norwich form: LLLDD

For fans, Boxing Day football is normally a great prospect. After feasting the day earlier, it’s a time to relax and watch your team before continuing the festivities. Unless you’re a Norwich fan, that is. The Canaries have rotten luck in the Premier League on Boxing Day, winless in their seven matches so far, losing six and managing just one draw. By contrast, Arsenal have won 14 of their 23 Premier League games on Boxing Day.

Pick 2. Tottenham (3/4) to win v Crystal Palace

  • Kick-off: Sunday, 15:00
  • Tottenham form: DWWWD
  • Crystal Palace form: DWLLL

Tottenham aren’t on a good run of form in Premier League London derbies, losing five of their last six. But that record goes out the window whenever they face Crystal Palace. Spurs have won each of their last six home league games against Palace by an aggregate score of 13-1, keeping five clean sheets.

Pick 3. West Ham (17/20) to win v Southampton

  • Kick-off: Sunday, 15:00
  • West Ham form: LDWDL
  • Southampton form: DLDDL

Every team has a club they love to face, and for West Ham, it’s Southampton. The Hammers have played 39 games against Southampton in the Premier League, winning 19 (more than they have managed against any other side in the competition). West Ham have also won 14 of their Premier League home games against Southampton including the last four, scoring exactly three goals each time.

Pick 4. Brighton (19/20) to win v Brentford

  • Kick-off: Sunday, 20:00
  • Brighton form: LDDDL
  • Brentford form: WDLWD

Brighton have made a name for themselves as being bullies of late by giving promoted sides a problem in the Premier League. The Seagulls have lost just one of their last 12 Premier League games against promoted sides, winning five and drawing six. They have also conceded just four goals in these games while keeping a clean sheet in seven of their past eight.

Boxing Day omens don’t look good for Brentford either, with just three teams winning a Premier League game on December 26 in their maiden campaign, excluding the opening season.

Pick 5. Man Utd (4/9) to win v Newcastle

  • Kick-off: Monday, 20:00
  • Man Utd form: WWWDL
  • Newcastle form: LLLWD

The final game of the matchweek takes place on Monday and Man Utd will be looking to continue their excellent record against Newcastle. The Red Devils have scored 112 Premier League goals against Newcastle, the joint-best record against a single opponent in the top flight and have won their last four games vs the Magpies.

Newcastle are also on the cusp of unwanted history, conceding the joint-most goals in the Premier League in a single calendar year – currently on 79 alongside Ipswich Town from 1994.
