Real Madrid will be looking to keep their lead at the top of La Liga when they face Celta Vigo this weekend.

Los Blancos are currently three points clear of rivals Barcelona in second place and are unbeaten in the league in 14 games since a shock defeat to RCD Mallorca.

Their opponents, however, have had no such joy this season and sit just two points clear of the relegation zone having narrowly avoided the drop in 2018/19.

Can Celta Vigo pull up a shock or will Real Madrid take a step closer to winning La Liga for the first time since 2017?

Read on for our Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo preview, predictions, team news, TV coverage and live streaming information.

Ones to watch

Real Madrid: Karim Benzema

Having spent a fair few seasons being underappreciated by many, Karim Benzema continues to show all those who watch him just how good he is.

The 32-year-old Frenchman has 13 La Liga goals this season, a tally bettered only by Lionel Messi, and has led the line perfectly for Zinedine Zidane as part of a dynamic attack.

When he isn’t adding to his goal tally, Benzema also chips in with assists, recording six so far with Madrid’s wingers able to get involved.

Key stat: Only Lionel Messi (25) has been directly involved in more La Liga goals this season than Karim Benzema (19).

Celta Vigo: Fedor Smolov

Celta Vigo have struggled for goals this season. Only Leganes have scored fewer than them in La Liga. In fact, Benzema has been directly involved in as many league goals this season as Celta Vigo.

The club looked to remedy that fact in the January transfer window, bringing 30-year-old striker Fedor Smolov in from Lokomotiv Moscow on loan until the end of the season.

However, Smolov hasn’t exactly had the best season in front of goal himself, scoring four goals in 21 games across all competitions including two for Celta Vigo. Is there a better stage for him to get off the mark in Spain?

Key stat: Fedor Smolov has not scored in his past 10 games across all competitions for Lokomotiv Moscow and Celta Vigo.

Squawka prediction

Aside from facing one of the bottom three sides, Real Madrid perhaps couldn’t ask for a better opponent this week as they look to keep ahead of Barcelona ahead of March’s Clasico.

Los Blancos have won their past five league games while Celta Vigo have won just four times in La Liga all season. Number four did come against fifth-placed Sevilla last time out, but this only makes it less likely Real Madrid will allow complacency to creep in. There is only one winner here.

Scoreline prediction: Real Madrid 3-0 Celta Vigo
