Newcastle will look to win back-to-back Premier League games for the first time under Steve Bruce when they host Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Magpies won 3-2 away at West Ham last time out in a scoreline which really doesn’t reflect the impressive nature of their performance, although that game does now account for a third of their Premier League goals this season.

Bournemouth will be on a high themselves after beating Manchester United 1-0 last week, but Josh King’s strike in that match is the Cherries’ only goal in their last four games.

Who will win out between two teams struggling in the final third? Read on for Newcastle v Bournemouth predictions, preview, key players and team news.

Ones to watch

Newcastle: Allan Saint-Maximin

He’s raw and unpredictable but when Allan Saint-Maximin is on form, Newcastle are far more exciting and a much tougher proposition for the opposition.

The Frenchman’s dribbling ability at speed makes him a nightmare to defend against and while the end product isn’t always there, he remains one of Steve Bruce’s most important attacking pieces.

Key stat: Saint-Maximin has completed 25 take-ons in the Premier League this season, at least 12 more than any of his teammates.

Bournemouth: Josh King

Bournemouth need to start scoring more goals. It’s as simple as that.

King will take great confidence from grabbing the winner against his former club Man Utd last week, but he and Callum Wilson need to keep developing their partnership up top to help the Cherries find the back of the net more consistently.

Key stat: No Bournemouth player has created more chances than King (15) in the Premier League this season.

Team news

Newcastle

Newcastle are unchanged from the team that beat West Ham last time out, meaning Jonjo Shelvey continues in midfield alongside Issac Hayden.

There are also starts for Miguel Almiron, Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Willems.

Predicted XI: Dubravka; Yedlin, Fernandez, Lascelles, Clark, Willems; Almiron, Hayden, Shelvey, Saint-Maximin; Joelinton.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth have made just one change from the team that beat Manchester United last weekend with Lewis Cook replacing the suspended Jefferson Lerma in midfield.

Callum Wilson and Josh King will share the goalscoring responsibilities up top, while Ryan Fraser and Harry Wilson provide the creativity.

Predicted XI: Ramsdale; Smith, S. Cook, Ake, Rico; H. Wilson, L. Cook, Billing, Fraser; C. Wilson, King.

Squawka prediction

Bournemouth are unusually short on goals this season, which will suit Newcastle perfectly given their tendency to sit deep and defend in a low block. Bruce needs to start utilising Joelinton and Miguel Almiron much better than he is currently, starting here.

Scoreline prediction: Newcastle 1-0 Bournemouth
