FC Porto vs Portimonense build-up, pre-match team news & previous lineups
Porto are enduring their worst start to a Primeira Liga season in 25 years. They have only collected 10 points from the opening six games in the league and currently sit fourth in the standings. The Dragons are currently winless in three league games, including an embarrassing 3-2 defeat on the road at Pacos Ferreira last weekend. However, they still have a good home record with nine victories in their last ten competitive matches. Furthermore, they have won all their five home meetings with Portimonense while scoring 15 goals.
One of the few positives for Sérgio Conceição this season is Porto’s Champions League campaign. They beat Marseille 3-0 at home in midweek and another victory in the next round of games will see them book their place in the round-of-16.
Although Porto have struggled in this early part of the season, Portimonense are surely no match for the reigning champions. Portimonense are the second-worst team in the division at the moment, having won just once in six games this season. They have lost four of their last five league outings, including a 1-2 home defeat against Santa Clara last weekend. Away from home, António Folha’s men have won just two of their last 15 league trips while losing 10. Their first trip to the Estadio do Dragao was in 2010 and they have never won a single point in five visits. Actually, their only win against Porto in 11 meetings was in a friendly back in 2018.
- FC Porto (vs Marseille): Marchesin, Manafa, Mbemba, Sarr, Sanusi, Otavio, Uribe, Sergio Oliveira, Corona, Marega, Luis Diaz.
- Portimonense (vs Santa Clara): Samuel, Anzai, Mauricio, Willyan, Cande, Lucas, Cunha Sa, Dener, Anderson, Fabricio, Ferreira dos Santos.
Ivan Marcano and Mouhamed Mbaye are still sidelined through injury. In addition, Pepe is struggling with a heel injury. Marko Grujic can feature in the starting lineup here if coach Conceicao decides to bring in some fresh legs after Porto’s midweek game against Marseille.
There are no fresh injury concerns for Portimonense, although Pedro Sa is a doubt ahead of this trip. Boa Morte and Wellington Junior will fight for a place on the left wing, while Fahd Moufi should be in the starting lineup over Koki Anzai.
