If you’re picking a five-a-side of current footballing stars, the chances are, Pedri is going straight into your team.

The Canary Islander has emerged as one of the game’s most promising midfielders, flourishing for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team since bursting onto the scene — racking up over 100 appearances in all competitions before he’s even turned 20.

When it comes to the sort of attributes you would look for in a five-a-side player, Pedri hits all the key notes, with a laser-guided passing range, a low centre of gravity, superb ball control and a deftness that allows him to glide past players in the blink of an eye.

The 19-year-old has now been describing to Barca TV+ the sort of player traits he would be looking for when picking his “dream” five-a-side team, but there is a caveat to his selection process: he is not allowed to name any footballers, but rather, other sporting stars across the globe.
