Mathias Pogba has fanned the flames on a La Liga switch for his brother after revealing all of his siblings ‘prefer Spanish football’.

Paul Pogba has been the subject of intense speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid this summer but thus far, Los Blancos are yet to continue their spending spree with the Frenchman’s signature.

Pogba to Real transfer saga: Five things to know…

  • Pogba has previously described a move to Real Madrid as a “dream”.
  • He has also spoken of his desire to work under compatriot and Real manager Zinedine Zidane.
  • He recently fuelled rumours of a departure by suggesting he wants a “new challenge”.
  • Those comments came just before agent Mino Raiola told reporters his client wants to leave the club.
  • Paul Pogba’s brother has now claimed the midfielder “prefers Spanish football”.

Mathias recently completed a move to Spanish fourth division side CD Manchego and he believes the more technically efficient football played on the Iberian Peninsula appeals to all those within in the Pogba camp.

“We can’t do anything about the rumours, I’m here because I’m here, not because my brother can come but because Mathias Pogba wants to come here,” Mathias told AS.

“Spanish football is the best football, especially with the ball… it’s the game we all like. As much to me, as to my brother, as to all the footballers. I’m very happy.

“We are calm, always calm. Not because there are rumours that he will come here. We live as always. If he has to come, he will come and if he does not have to come, he will not come.

“I always want the best for my brother. If he thinks it is the best team for him, he will come.

“I was happiest in my early years at Celta, it is where I grew up as a player and a man, it was the happiest stage of my football and general life.”

The latest Pogba rumours

With just under a fortnight to go until the Premier League transfer window slams shut on August 8, rumours are beginning to hot up once again.

The latest reports emerging from Spain are that Real Madrid have launched an eye-watering £145m bid for Pogba.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Zidane wants to continue his galactico project in the capital and wrap up a deal for the Frenchman as soon as possible.

Of course, Spanish clubs are permitted to sign Premier League players past the English window, but United are unlikely to offload once the deadline passes as they would not be able to secure a replacement.
