Atalanta will be looking to make further strides in their push for second when they visit Parma on Sunday afternoon (14:00 UK time).

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have been Serie A’s most entertaining team this season and go into the final four games having registered the most goals (79). Parma, meanwhile, have realistically nothing left to play for bar pride after suffering the ignominy of relegation last time out.

Parma vs Atalanta build-up, previous line-ups & injury news:

A three-year stay in Serie A came to an end just days before this weekend’s game with Atalanta when Parma registered their 20th defeat of the season. It was Roberto D’Aversa’s men fifth consecutive loss and sixth game since recording their last Serie A success. With four matches remaining the Gialloblu will be looking to finish this campaign with more than just three wins. That most recent success came on March 13 when they ran out 2-0 winners over Europa League semi-finalist Roma.

Things could not look any more different regarding La Dea who are seeking a third consecutive season finishing in the Champions League places. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side finished third in those seasons which remains the club’s best final standing but they have a chance of surpassing that and setting a new bar. Atalanta are currently second though are level on points with Juventus and Milan with Napoli a further two behind. Their attack has so far been the difference with them currently averaging 2.3 goals per game.

  • Parma (vs Torino): Sepe; Laurini, Dierckx, Alves, Pezzella; Grassi, Hernani, Brugman; Kucka; Cornelius, Gervinho.
  • Atalanta (vs Sassuolo): Gollini; Tolói, Djimsiti, Romero; Hateboer, De Roon, Freuler, Gosens; Pessina, Malinovskyi; Zapata.

Hernani is suspended while Valentin Mihaila is doubtful. Gaston Brugman joins Yann Karamoh, Dennis Man, Simone Iacoponi , Wylan Cyprien , Joshua Zirkzeen and Roberto Inglese in Parma’s physio room. Pierluigi Gollini serves a match ban for Atalanta following his red card last week. Rafael Toloi sustained a thigh injury and can not be called upon for some time. Joakim is also ruled out through a sore Achilles.

Player to watch: Robin Gosens (Atalanta)

His strike against Sassuolo last time out saw Robin Gosens become the first Atalanta defender to score at least 10 goals in a single Serie A campaign. When it comes to players operating in the backline only Daniel Passarella (11 – 1985/86), Antonello Cuccureddu (12 – 1973/74) and Marco Materazzi (12 – 2006/07) have been more prolific than the four-time German international who earlier this season netted in three successive league outings. It’s not only finishing off chances which Gosens has been good at, he’s created no fewer than six goals coming into this weekend’s game, which is two fewer than his best return (8 – 2019/20).
