Inter Milan will hope their Serie A visit to Parma on Sunday evening is a little more routine than Wednesday’s game.
Antonio Conte’s men were held to an entertaining 3-3 draw against Sassuolo, in which there were two penalties, three post-80th minute goals and a stoppage-time red card for centre-back Milan Skriniar. Entertaining, perhaps. But it prevented them from narrowing the gap between them and second-place Lazio, who are seven points ahead despite losing to Atalanta in midweek.
Parma, meanwhile, have European football aspirations on their mind. The two-time Uefa Cup winners currently occupy the final Europa League spot but face stiff competition from a number of clubs, including Inter’s city rivals AC Milan.

Parma & Inter’s previous line-ups:
- Parma (vs Genoa): Sepe; Laurini, Iacoponi*, Alves, Gagliolo; Brugman, Hernani, Kurtic; Kulusevski, Cornelius, Gervinho.
- Inter (vs Sassuolo): Handanovic; Skriniar*, Bastoni, Ranocchia; Moses, Valero, Gagliardini, Biraghi; Eriksen; Lukaku, Sánchez.
Simone Iacoponi serves a one-match ban for Parma suspension this weekend. Alberto Grassi, Luca Siligardi and Roberto Inglese meanwhile sit out through injury. Skriniar is suspended after being sent off last time out against Sassuolo while Inter must also do without Marcelo Brozovic, Stefano Sensi and Matías Vecino.
Players to watch:
Parma: You go four games without a goal and three come along at once. That is what Andreas Cornelius experienced last time out against Genoa, where he registered a second Serie A hat-trick of the season plus an assist in their 4-1 win. The Danish marksman will be chomping at the bit against Inter, whom he didn’t face earlier in the season due to suffering a muscle injury.
Inter: Cornelius’ compatriot Christian Eriksen has yet to set the world alight in an Inter jersey following his move from Tottenham Hotspur a few months ago. Across his opening six Serie A outings Eriksen has not been able to complete the full 90 minutes and has mustered just one assist. Conte recently fielded him behind Inter’s front-two and the eccentric tactician will be expecting a change in form. No better time than this weekend.
Scoreline prediction: Parma 1-2 Inter
