Panathinaikos have just started to slip away in the race for the EuroLeague play-off positions, with The Shamrock losing their last two matches and dropping down to a concerning 15th in the table. Dejan Radonjic will know he has a huge job on his hands to resurrect the Athenian’s season and push for the top eight.

The Greek side were actually caught in the riptide of a six-game losing run between December and January, but things have started to pick up slightly, albeit in very stuttering fashion. That tailspin was nullified at the end of last month with an 88-86 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv and followed up two games later with a triumph over Zalgiris.

They will be cautious that they have now reverted to type with back-to-back losses, but Valencia also come into this game fresh from defeat. Alex Mumbru’s Oranges fell to a slender 93-94 defeat to Maccabi Tel Aviv, which ended their winning run of five games. That purple patch fired them up the table, but they remain outside the coveted play-off spots, placing a huge emphasis on this showdown on Friday night.

The home side has won this fixture in the previous seven EuroLeague meetings between these two sides and you would have to go all the way back to November 2010 to find an away win (Panathinaikos 69-73 Valencia).
