In the EuroLeague as one of the wildcard entries, Partizan didn’t have the best start to life in the top flight after eight years out, losing their opening three games. The first defeat was a pretty heavy one too, losing 100-84 to ALBA Berlin before taking Baskonia to overtime before eventually faltering. It was another fairly close defeat in the third match to Olimipia Milano, which will have had Partizan wondering where their first win was going to come from.
The answer, it turns out, was Virtus Bologna. In their fourth game of the season, Partizan absolutely demolished their Italian opponents in a 90-62 victory with James Nunnally scoring 20 points with four assists. Partizan then made it two wins in a row with victory over Zalgiris last time out, winning 87-76 thanks to a final-quarter comeback.
Partizan have a good chance of extending their winning run too, with Panathinaikos in woeful form in the EuroLeague so far this season. The Greek side are one of the regulars in the EuroLeague but haven’t made it to the playoffs in either of the past two seasons, ending a run of fairly successful campaigns with regards to the regular season. After opening the 2022/23 season with defeat to Real Madrid, Panathinaikos did beat Crvena zvezda but that was been the height of their campaign.
In their third match, Panathinaikos were brought crashing down to earth in a 94-65 defeat to ALBA Berlin where everything went wrong. The next defeat was slightly closer as Panathinaikos lost 83-80 to AS Monaco but last time out Maccabi Tel Aviv beat the Greek side 85-74, taking the lead in the first quarter and never looking back.
