Serbia will be looking to take their impressive qualifying form into the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

After reaching the quarter-final stages in three of the first four World Cups that they qualified for (as Yugoslavia), Serbia have reached the last eight on just one occasion in the last 56 years.

The Eagles have not made it past the group stages in each of the last three World Cup tournaments, finishing third in a group containing Brazil, Switzerland and Costa Rica in 2018, two sides that they will face again in Group G in Qatar, scoring just twice.

Goals will not be a problem this time for a Serbian side full of firepower and creativity. Aleksandar Mitrovic (who has broken the record for most goals in a Championship season) and Juventus’ new star signing Dusan Vlahovic will be leading the line in Dragan Stojkovic’s side, while Ajax star Dusan Tadic who has provided 13 or more league assists in each of the last four seasons will be looking to supply them.

Serbia to win 2022 World Cup odds

Serbia are currently 100/1 to win the 2022 World Cup.

Dragan Stojkovic’s side finished top of their qualifying group, winning six and drawing two of their eight games, remaining unbeaten in a group with Portugal, Ireland, Luxembourg and Azerbaijan.

Serbia have qualified for four of the last five World Cups, but have not made it out of the group stages since 1998 when they were knocked out at the last 16 stage.

Serbia’s potential path to 2022 World Cup final

Serbia have been drawn In Group G alongside Brazil, Switzerland and Cameroon, two of the three teams that they also faced in group stages in Russia in 2018.

They begin their campaign with pre-tournament favourites Brazil, followed by Cameroon and then ending the group with Switzerland.

If Serbia win Group G

If Serbia were to win Group G, then this would be their route through to the final.

  • Last 16: The runners-up of Group H which consists of Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea in Doha on the 5th December.
  • Quarter-finals: The winner of match 53, played between Group E winners and Group F runners-up.
  • Semi-finals: The winner of Match 58 which will include one of the Group A or Group C winners, or runners-up from Group B or D.

If Serbia finish second in Group G:

  • Last 16: The winners of Group H in Lusail on the 6th December.
  • Quarter-finals: The winner of Match 55, played between Group F winners and Group E runners-up.
  • Semi-finals: The winner of Match 60, which could include the Group D  or B winners, or runners-up from Group C or A.

Serbia have failed to qualify from the group stages in each of their last three tournaments and have only reached the quarter-final stage once in the last 56 years.

They are 8/1 to win their group and 7/5 to qualify for the last 16. You can also back them to go all the way to the final at 50/1.
