Next Brighton manager odds: Lens boss Haise current favourite for Seagulls vacancy
Brighton are currently searching for a new manager following the departure of popular boss Graham Potter to Chelsea.
Graham Potter’s meteorical rise as a head coach has taken another step with his move to Premier League giants Chelsea, leaving Brighton looking for a manager to build on the foundations left in place by the departing 47 year old at the Amex Stadium.
After arriving in Sussex from Swansea City in 2019, Potter slowly improved the Seagulls year on year and as they achieved an impressive 9th placed finish last season, they have finally begun to look like an established Premier League club.
They’ve enjoyed a fine start to the current season too and currently occupy fourth place in the table having won four, drawn one and lost one of their opening six games. As such, the Amex may seem like an attractive destination for some of the managers that have been linked with the vacancy over the last few days.
Lens’ head coach Franck Haise is the current favourite for the role at evens. Having been promoted into the top job from the French club’s B Team in 2020, Haise has led the relative minnows to back-to-back 7th placed finishes in Ligue 1 and developed a reputation for tactical flexibility and smart transfer business.
Kjetil Knutsen, the man behind the incredible rise of Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt, was the early favourite – but his odds have now drifted out to 5/2 as the Brighton board do seem to be more enamoured with Haise if the press are to be believed.
Other managers considered to be in the running include former Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk boss Roberto de Zerbi (4/1), another former Swansea manager in Nottingham Forest’s Steve Cooper (11/2), plus Celtic’s Australian head coach Ante Postecoglou (15/2).
