Monaco are in the Euroleague for the second time this season, entering the competition as defending EuroCup champions last year and keeping their place after a positive finish. And they have not wasted any time in proving that they certainly do belong at this level, winning their opening two matches of the 22/23 campaign.

The French side started the campaign with a commanding 83-66 victory over Virtus Bologna in Italy, a win brought by their control of the second and third quarters. Things were a lot tighter last time out, however, as Monaco welcomed defending Euroleague champs Anadolu Efes to Fontvieille. The two sides exchanged controlling quarters in the first half with Monaco going in a point up but that deficit was clawed back by Anadolu Efes to take the game to overtime. But Monaco ultimately had enough, winning 95-92.

Maccabi Tel Aviv are six-time Euroleague winners but haven’t reached the Final Four in 2014 and have had a mixed start to the 22/23 season. The Israeli side opened with a marginal victory over Zalgiris in their opening match, beating the Lithuanians 84-83 despite falling away in the final quarter.

However, their second game brought a similar showing to that final quarter against Zalgiris, with Fenerbahce truly dominating and taking control at the half. Maccabi Tel Aviv were unable to deal with their Turkish hosts or bridge the gap and ultimately lost 86-71, with Wade Baldwin IV scoring 14 points.
