The Russian had already seen off Matteo Arnaldi and Andy Murray — who are both ranked inside the top 50 of the ATP rankings — in 2-1 victories, coming from a set down to win each match. But then he topped it off by beating a second Brit in Cameron Norrie — ranked 17th in the world — in straight sets. Overall this year, Karatsev has 28 wins from 46 matches, enjoying a 9-7 hard court record along the way. Given his momentum, he’ll be more than a match for Nishioka.
This will be the second meeting between these two players, with Nishioka winning the previous one in straight sets in Paris last year.
