Real Madrid will be looking to continue their perfect start to the 2023/24 EuroLeague season. The defending champions, beating Olympiacos in last season’s final, Real Madrid couldn’t have asked for a better start to the new campaign. Although they have played one game fewer, due to their postponed meeting with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Real Madrid are already one win clear of their closest rivals Barcelona and Virtus Bologna — who have records of 6-2.

It’s a stark contrast to Real Madrid’s start last season when they lost three of their opening five games. So far this year, Baskonia, Anadolu Efes, Zalgiris, Olimpia Milano, Virtus Bologna and Valencia have all fallen alongside the biggest victory of the lot, beating Barcelona.

Monaco, meanwhile, will be happy with their start to the season, currently sitting fourth with a record of 5-3 after eight games. They’re used to being among the top teams in EuroLeague, finishing fourth in the regular season last year, and making it to the semi-finals before losing to Olympiacos. They still managed to finish third, beating Barcelona in the third place game.

The 2023/24 EuroLeague season didn’t actually start well for Monaco, as they lost their first two games against Valencia and Virtus Bologna. But they bounced back in emphatic fashion, building a five-game winning run with victories over Crvena zvezda, ALBA Berlin, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Olimpia Milano and LDLC ASVEL. However, Monaco’s winning run was brought to an end last time out as they were beaten 89-82 by Anadolu Efes.
