Pakistan and Sri Lanka take to the field in India for a celebration of subcontinental cricket on Tuesday at the Cricket World Cup (09:30 BST).

Pakistan got their tournament off to a winning start against the lowest ranked team, the Netherlands, but they did get bowled out by the Netherlands attack so they will probably be aiming for a better batting performance here.

The Sri Lankan attack took a battering from South Africa last time out, conceding a World Cup record amount in the innings.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Betting Tips

Pakistan’s start to put them in great position

When Pakistan saw the draw for the Group Stage they must have been quite pleased to see the Netherlands and then Sri Lanka be their first two matches. Whilst there are no easy games at a World Cup, there are tougher ones to begin with. It has allowed the Pakistan team to build into the tournament and if they emerge victorious from this match they will be in great shape to qualify for the knockout stages.

This match is 2nd vs 8th in terms of the ODI rankings, Pakistan are really pushing India to be ranked as the world’s best team, and it is well known that they can be dynamite on their day. They were fairly scruffy in their win over the Netherlands, but Haris Rauf led the Pakistan attack to bowl the Netherlands out very comfortably. It is worth taking a punt on him to be successful again here and potentially win the player of the match award for it.

Babar Azam is the world leading ODI batsman and should be clear in the top batsman market, but he isn’t, so is worth a bet at the price.

As is Charith Asalanka for Sri Lanka. He is actually Sri Lanka’s highest ranked ODI batsman at the moment, and he also top scored against South Africa, which shows that he is in good touch. His position in the betting for Sri Lanka’s highest batsman is fairly insulting to that record.

It is worth noting that the match will take place at the same venue that Pakistan played last week, so they may have an advantage there as well. With both sides being bowled out that day, it could be a place for the bowlers, hence the bowling choice for POTM.
