Following Rafael Nadal’s exit on Saturday, Novak Djokovic is the most successful remaining Italian Open player in this year’s competition with six titles, the most recent of which came in 2022. The Serbian has already made a great start at this year’s tournament, seeing off Frenchman Corentin Moutet in straight sets and dropping just four games. Still the world No.1, Djokovic, now 36 years old, has won 12 of his 16 games so far in 2024, but he’s yet to reach his first ATP final of the year and will be looking to add some more trophies to his cabinet quickly.
Next up is Tabilo of Chile. The 26-year-old is ranked 32nd in the world and has proven himself a dangerous player in recent months, picking up some challenger titles and giving higher-ranked players like Grigor Dimitrov and Sebastian Baez a run for their money. Tabilo has won 22 of his 31 games overall this year, already winning the Auckland Open and reaching the final of his native Chile Open. This is the first time he’s ever faced Djokovic and he’ll be keen to leave his mark on one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
