Ireland and Scotland lock horns in their final Pool B match at the Rugby World Cup with qualification on the line on Saturday at 8pm (UK time).

This is a straight shootout with the victor of this game sealing qualification to the knockout stage. Scotland will need some bonus point assistance, as well as the victory, whilst Ireland know any win or draw will see them through to the quarter-final.

Ireland vs Scotland preview

Ireland have impressed so far, winning all three of their games and conceded just 32 points. It hasn’t been enough to seal qualification yet though, and Andy Farrell’s side will know that they must either beat Scotland, or secure a tie, to advance to the quarter final stage.

There is a small chance that both sides can make it through to the next stage but a very high scoring draw is quite unlikely and this is effectively a straight shootout for qualification.

A victory might be a bridge too far for Scotland but the handicap market looks enticing in what should be a close encounter. Scotland to beat the 12.5 handicap looks a lively bet on what should be a tense evening of rugby.
