Hosts India will take on five-time champions Australia in the one-day Cricket World Cup Final in Ahmedabad on Sunday (8.30am BST).

Six and a half weeks after England and New Zealand kicked off the tournament, and 47 matches later, the two teams left standing are India and Australia.

The Australians are obviously a very successful nation in the Cricket World Cup, no nation has won it more, but they have had a rollercoaster of a group stage. Having lost their first two matches quite heavily to India and South Africa, the Aussies roared back into contention and ended up qualifying quite comfortably from the group stage in third place and are now on an eight-match winning streak.

India can out-do that though. The hosts have won all 10 matches that they have played in the tournament. They have also seen their heroes perform brilliantly in the tournament, with Virat Kohli reaching 50 centuries in one-day internationals, and leading the runscorers for the tournament and Mohammad Shami taking the most wickets.

India vs Australia Betting Tips

Virat Kohli is the top runscorer at the Cricket World Cup and so is understandably the shortest price to be the top runscorer of the final as well. However, he wasn’t the only Indian who scored a century in the semi-final, Shreyas Iyer, coming in at #4, partnered Kohli for a long time and showed that he is in great touch himself. He could be worth a bet at a bigger price.

The Nahendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has been used four times this tournament and it has been a low-scoring venue. It hosted the opener between England and New Zealand, where England showed perfectly how difficult it can be to score on, though they did in turn make it a bit easier for New Zealand.

However, scores since then have been 191 from Pakistan, that India chased down comfortably, 286 from Australia that England failed to chase, and 244 from Afghanistan that South Africa only just scraped up to after looking out of it.

Jasprit Bumrah and Adam Zampa won Player of the Match awards in two of those four matches, so in a tournament where batters have dominated the POTM award, there is a decent chance of a bowler scooping the award here. Shami has been superb, especially in the semi-final with a ridiculous seven-wicket haul, whilst, if there is turn, Zampa could be the key man for the Australians.

India vs Australia team news

There is no reason to believe that the teams will change much from the semi-final wins for either nation.
