Swiatek has been extremely busy going about proving exactly why she’s the No.1 women’s tennis player in the world recently. The 22-year-old Polish star dropped just two sets in six matches to win the Madrid Open recently in a run that included a 2-1 victory over world No.2 Aryna Sabalenka in the final. That was followed up with a straight-sets victory over American Bernarda Pera in her opening match at this tournament, meaning she’s now won an incredible 33 of her 37 games so far in 2024.

Up next will be another tricky challenge in the form of Putintseva. The Kazakhstani has already had to battle through two rounds to reach this stage, but is yet to drop a set in back-to-back victories over American Sloane Stephens and Martina Trevisan of Italy. Despite her more modest ranking of 41 in the world, Putintseva has won 20 of her 32 matches in 2024 so far and is certainly a threat.

However, it won’t come as a surprise to learn that Swiatek has dominated the head-to-head stakes between these players, winning all three previous meetings with Putintseva to date.
