This is Fiji’s third quarter-final appearance, but their first since 2007, and they have never made it past this stage.

England to edge close encounter
It has been clear to see that England are not at their best in this World Cup. However, there is an argument to say that their opening victory with 14 men against Argentina broke the back of this group and they haven’t necessarily needed to stretch themselves to qualify from the group after that stage.
Also, they have won all four group games. It was touch and go versus Samoa last time out, but when the pressure came, the players did step their game up and applied the pressure which came with its rewards.
Fiji finished their group stage by falling to defeat against Portugal. In a similar situation to England though, they knew that a narrow defeat was still enough for them to qualify for this stage. Regardless, they surely would’ve preferred to come into this with more positive form.
Fiji will ramp up their mentality for this match. England seem quite incapable of putting anyone away convincingly at the moment, so giving the Fijians a 10-point headstart seems like a tall order.
