England vs Argentina preview
England suffered semi-final heartbreak in Saint-Denis last week, despite holding their own for much of their blockbuster clash with South Africa.
Steve Borthwick’s side produced an inspired performance and held a 15-6 lead thanks to the right boot of Owen Farrell.
But South Africa dug deep and Handre Pollard’s late penalty was enough for the Springboks to snatch a dramatic 16-15 victory and set up a mouth-watering final showdown with New Zealand.
The All Blacks made a statement of intent as they ran out commanding 44-6 winners over Argentina in the first of the semi-finals.
The Pumas were aiming to make it third time lucky at this stage of the tournament, but can still equal their best performance by winning here.
Of course, the two sides met right at the start of this year’s World Cup, with England prevailing 27-10 on their way to topping Pool D.
Borthwick has made eight changes from England’s defeat by South Africa, including fielding a brand-new front row of Ellis Genge, Theo Dan and Will Stuart.
As for Argentina, Michael Cheika makes three changes from the loss to New Zealand, with Tomas Cubelli, Pedro Rubiolo and Jeronimo de la Fuente all coming into the starting XV.
