World No.2 Sabalenka has looked in formidable form recently, coming from a set down to beat American youngster Katie Volynets in her opening match in Rome, while world No.1 Iga Swiatek is the only player to beat her in her last seven matches. Sabalenka has won 21 of her 27 matches so far in 2024, already winning her second straight Australian Open title and reaching the Madrid Open final.

However, curiously, she’s faced her next opponent on three occasions in her career so far, but has lost to Yastremska every single time. That said, it’s been over four years since these two last met with Yastremska only now starting to make good on her potential. The 23-year-old Ukrainian reached the Australian Open semi-finals earlier in the year while in 2024 overall, she’s won 15 of her 24 matches, climbing to 33rd in the WTA rankings. Proving herself as Sabalenka’s bogey opponent once again would be an incredible achievement and could set her on her way to a memorable ATP title.
