Anadolu Efes are on a decent run of form in EuroLeague right now and they’ll be hoping to continue that going into the 11th round of games. The Turkish side have underwhelmed in EuroLeague of late, particularly for a team that won back-to-back titles in 2020/21 and 2021/22. Of course, they aren’t one of the stalwarts of EuroLeague, but many will have predicted them to build on those wins rather regress as they did last season.
The 2023/24 EuroLeague season started with four defeats from their opening six games, with Anadolu Efes only managing to beat LDLC ASVEL and Valencia, the latter one of the strugglers. However, they look to have turned things around, going into this matchup with three wins in their past four. Zalgiris, AS Monaco and Partizan have all fallen, with Olimpia Milano the only team to beat Anadolu Efes during this run. The most recent victory over Partizan came via a fantastic final-quarter comeback, with a 16-point swing leading to Anadolu’s 100-94 win.
It’s perhaps not the best time for Crvena zvezda to be hosting them then. The Serbian side are struggling this season, though they are never expected to make too much trouble in EuroLeague. Crvena zvezda are in their 10th season as a EuroLeague team (with one-year out in the EuroCup in 2018/19) but have only finished the campaign with a positive record once, in 2016/17 when they only missed out on the playoffs on head-to-head against Darussafaka Dogus.
Last season Crvena zvezda finished with a respectable record of 17-17, just two wins outside the playoffs. But it’s already looking as though they’re going to have a hard task of matching that, even with the added chance of qualification via the play-in. After 10 games played, Crvena zvezda have managed just three victories over LDLC ASVEL, Bayern Munich and Fenerbahce, alongside seven defeats. And they go into this game off the back of consecutive defeats, with the latter a 93-71 loss at the hands of Olimpia Milano.
