Australia must win to keep their faint Rugby World Cup quarter-final hopes alive when they face Portugal on Sunday (4.45pm BST).

The Wallabies are on the brink of pool-stage elimination for the first time after losing two of their opening three games, so only a big victory will do against the Portuguese in Saint-Etienne.

Australia vs Portugal Betting Tips

What can you say about Australia and Eddie Jones after their record defeat against Wales last week? England fans will take some pleasure from seeing an Eddie Jones team struggle after his tumultuous end as England head coach but as a rugby fan, it’s been difficult to watch an Australian team fall so far and in such a brutal manner.

They will be hoping to end this tournament on a high (although they do have a very slim chance of qualification), against a Portugal side who have been very impressive in only their 2nd ever WC appearance. The Portuguese have played some lovely, attacking rugby and have surprised people, who expected them to be the whipping boys in Group C, giving Wales a scare in defeat before a great draw last time out against Georgia.

It’s hard to know what to expect from Australia, and if they will make any changes but, on current form, Portugal should be expected to cover the +23 handicap.

Tip: Portugal +23 Handicap @ Evs with Bet365

Both teams will likely look to play open, fast rugby with little to play for except pride so look to the likes of Mark Nawaqanitawase & Marika Koroibete to be among the tryscorers, as Australia try to restore some pride to a disastrous World Cup campaign.
